StreetWise Partners, a non-profit organization that works with low-income individuals to help them overcome employment barriers, raised more than $275,000 at the 2015 Raising the Ante Charity Poker Tournament and Casino Event at Capitale in New York City.
Also in attendance at last month’s charitable event were NY Knicks’ John Starks, NY Rangers’ Alex Kovalev, and former NY Giants Thomas Randolph.

The evenings Grand Prize winner, John Sabat, portfolio manager at Cubist Systematic Strategies, earned a seat at the World Series of Poker Main Event in Las Vegas this summer.
Rounding out the final five were J.R. Havlan (writer,The Tonight Show Starring Jimmy Fallon and The Daily Show); Kor Baydurcan, member of StreetWise Partners Board of Directors, Tony Snow from Red Oak Partners; and Jonathan Caruso fromIndus Valley Partners.
Proceeds from this event will make a huge impact on so many more lives, said Brian Korb, StreetWise Partners Board member and event co-chair. StreetWise Partners Career Ventures Program matches low-income trainees with some of the areas best and brightest business professionals.”
He added, “Our 2:1 career mentoring allows us to take every dollar raised so much further since our corporate partners donate not only office space and computers but also many of the volunteers that participate in our 3-month program. The Raising the Ante event was amazing. It was a great opportunity to not only have a lot of fun with my friends and peers in the financial community but to also help raise funds for StreetWise Partners programs that change the lives of hard-working disadvantaged individuals every day, said Sabat.
Raising the Ante was presented by General Atlantic and also sponsored by Paul Weiss, Fidelity National Title Insurance Company, KPMG, Latham & Watkins LLP, Contour Venture Partners, Energy Capital Partners, Jefferies, and Goldman Sachs. Event partners included the Hedge Fund Association and the New York Hedge Fund Roundtable and music was provided by Scratch Events.
Attendees also participated in a live and silent auction and enjoyed a delicious dining experience and premium open bar.
