Instinet announced the appointment of David Fellah as Head of International Quantitative Trading Strategy within Global Trading Research (GTR). In this newly created role, Fellah will be responsible for leading quantitative trading strategy research and execution consultancy across Europe and Asia. Fellah joins Instinet from ITG, where he was Head of Trading Analytics. Prior to this, he spent eight years at JPMorgan, most recently running Linear Quantitative Research for EMEA across cash, electronic trading and FX. Before joining JPMorgan, he headed trading strategy functions at brands including Liquidnet and Miletus. He will be based in London and report to Richard Parsons, CEO of Instinet Europe, and David Firmin, Global Head of GTR.

Caplin Systems, the specialist provider of desktop and mobile e-trading technology, announced three senior appointments to support its continued growth in EMEA, Scandinavia and Asia. First, Keith Hill joins as an Advisory Board Member, based in London, with responsibility for global business development strategy. Hill has worked in the FX industry for over 35 years, specializing in electronic FX sales management globally. Most recently he was Global Head of e-FX Sales at Socit Generale, where he managed a global sales team. Prior to this he worked at FXall as Head of EMEA Sales, joining in the firms early years and driving significant business growth through sales to banks and the buy-side.
Also, Campbell MacPherson joins as Head of Business Development for APAC, based in Sydney. MacPherson has worked in Global Markets sales and technology roles for over 30 years, spanning FX and Money Markets, ETFs, futures and Precious Metals. Most recently he worked for Thomson Reuters in Australia as Sales Director for sell-side accounts, after roles as Global Business Director for Australian and NZ banks, and Head of FX Marketplaces for the Pacific region.
Lastly, Claus Holmark Asved becomes Head of Business Development for Scandinavia and Germany, based in Copenhagen. He has worked in the FX industry for 30 years, most recently with Caplin as a consultant. Previously he worked at Jyske Bank as Senior Business Developer for FX and derivatives, and prior to this he spent 27 years working for Danske Bank, where he had multiple roles before finally becoming Head of eFX.
The Bank for International Settlements (BIS) is onboarding Alexandre Tombini as Chief Representative for the Americas. In this role, Tombini will lead efforts to develop relationships and strengthen collaboration with central banks and financial organisations in the Americas. He will be based in the BIS’s Americas Office and start in his new position on 1 September. He succeeds Enrique Alberola, who has been Chief Representative for the Americas since 2014. Tombini is currently an Executive Director of the Board at the International Monetary Fund.
ICBA Securities Inc., the broker-dealer subsidiary of the Independent Community Bankers of America (ICBA), appointed ICBA Vice Chairman Bob Fisher, president and CEO, Tioga State Bank, Spencer, N.Y., and Jack Hopkins, president and CEO, CorTrust Bank, Mitchell, S.D., to its board of directors. Deutsche Bank hired Neal Pawar as Group Chief Information Officer, effective early September and will also join the Group Management Committee. Pawar comes from AQR Capital, the investment management firm, where he was most recently a Principal and Chief Technology Officer. Prior to AQR, he was Managing Director and Chief Information Officer for UBS Wealth Management in Zurich, and a partner responsible for technology at the New York based quantitative firm D.E. Shaw & Co. He will be based in New York and report into Bernd Leukert.
Relatedly, Al Tarasiuk, the current Group Chief Information Officer, will become a senior strategic advisor to Bernd Leukert. Tarasiuk joined Deutsche Bank in 2015 and prior to becoming Group Chief Information Officer held the positions of Chief Information Security Officer and Chief Security Officer.
BroadRiver Asset Management, L.P., a New York based manager of alternative assets reported Emma Dickson has joined the firm as General Counsel and Chief Compliance Officer and a key member of the firms management team. Dickson was most recently Counsel to the Investment Funds Group at the Akin Gump office in London, UK. From 2014 to 2017, she was General Counsel at Criterion Capital Management, LLC, a San Francisco-based investment adviser. Prior to joining Criterion in 2014, she worked as an Attorney for Man Investments, focusing on fund launches, securities regulation issues, and general corporate counsel functions. Prior to joining Man in 2008, Dickson was an associate in the Investment Management Group at Schulte Roth & Zabel, LLP.
Northern Trust has named Marisa Kurk its new Chief Operating Officer of the Global Foreign Exchange (GFX) business. Based in Chicago, Kurk will drive the day-to-day enablement of GFX business strategy and operations. She brings more than 15 years of industry experience, in FX operating and strategic risk management frameworks, including the management of legal and regulatory risks, as well as market best practices, controls and client servicing. Prior to joining Northern Trust, Kurk served as COO of Belvedere Trading, LLC and COO and Senior Managing Director of Currency Management at Mesirow Financial.
London Stock Exchange Group plc announced Dominic Blakemore will join the Board as a Non-Executive Director, effective 1 January 2020. Blakemore will assume the Chair of the Audit Committee from Paul Heiden after the conclusion of the AGM in April 2020, when Heiden will step down from the LSEG Board. Blakemore is currently Group Chief Executive of Compass Group PLC, where he spent the last seven years in a variety of senior roles including as Group Finance Director. Prior to joining Compass, he was Chief Financial Officer of Birds Eye Iglo Group and spent six years at Cadbury plc.
BCS Global Markets is expanding its sales team in New York and added Kyrill Firshein and Diego Vargas for its fixed income and equities business. Firshein will be joining BCSs Equity sales team in New York to enhance the BCS GMs equity distribution in the US. With over 15 years of industry experience, he was l was the Executive Director and Head of Equity Sales for the Americas at VTB Capital. Kyrill has also worked at Deutsche Bank Securities, United Financial Group and Goldman Sachs & Co.
Vargas will join BCSs Fixed Income sales team in New York. With over 10 years experience and a deep knowledge of capital markets, Diego has worked at several financial wealth management institutions including, IDB Capital, INTL FCStone, Banco Santander and Indosuez Wealth Management.
