IEX Group has appointed John Palmer to lead its efforts to build out new markets. Palmer will focus on leveraging the strengths of IEX’s core system and technology to develop new markets and expand its product innovations to create more value for IEX customers. He brings exceptional experience across the financial services industry as a trading domain growth strategist. He draws from expertise across multi-asset exchange trading, derivative pricing models for equities, and leading data technology integrations that create stakeholder value. Prior to joining IEX, Palmer has held numerous leadership positions at Cboe Global Markets, most recently as President of Cboe Digital, overseeing the development of digital asset trading platforms and services.
Brent Johnson, Global Head of Execution Services, has decided to retire after over 26 years at UBS. He has been a highly valued member of the Global Markets management team, successfully leading Global Markets Execution Services since its formation in 2021. Neil Hosie will take over from Brent Johnson as Global Head of Execution Services, effective immediately. Hosie brings broad experience and global client connectivity across the Execution Services business having overseen and worked closely with Distribution, Financing, Research and ECM. Most recently he was Global Head of Equities at Credit Suisse.
Barclays has appointed Alexander Altmann as Managing Director and Global Head of Equities Tactical Strategies, based in New York, and reporting to Ronnie Wexler, Global Head of Equities Distribution. In this newly created global role, Altmann will be responsible for capturing new opportunities by delivering thematic idea generation, which will drive and monetise actionable market content across the Equities and broader Global Markets client base. He joins Barclays from Millenium Capital Management where he was Equity Macro Portfolio Manager. Prior to this, Alex was Head of Equity Trading Strategy for ten years at Citigroup.
London Stock Exchange has hired Pascal Boillat as Chief Operating Officer (COO). Boillat will join the Group on 1 July 2024, reporting to David Schwimmer. Based in New York, Boillat will lead LSEG’s global operations division supporting the services delivered both to our people and to customers. He will also be a member of the Group’s Executive Committee. With a career spanning more than 35 years, Pascal has held senior operational and technology roles for financial services firms around the globe. Most recently he was Group Executive, Enterprise Services & Chief Information Officer at Commonwealth Bank of Australia (CBA) where he managed technology, operations and data management across the bank.
Hugh Ansty has joined Northern Trust Asset Management (NTAM) as Head of Strategic Accounts, Intermediary, reporting to NTAM Wealth Client Group Co-Heads Suzanne Casey and Sunitha C. Thomas. Ansty is an industry veteran with more than 30 years of experience as a senior leader in sales and distribution. Most recently, he was Head of National Accounts at Hilton Capital Management. Prior to that he held leadership roles at BlackRock, Merrill Lynch, Pioneer Investments, and Evergreen Investments.
The World Federation of Exchanges CEO, Nandini Sukumar, has been re-elected to the position of Vice Chair of the International Organization of Securities Commission’s (IOSCO) Affiliate Members’ Consultative Committee (AMCC). Sukumar’s re-appointment marks her fourth consecutive term in this crucial leadership role within the IOSCO framework.
