Global Spending On Financial Market Data Totals A Record $44.3 Billion In 2024, Rising 6.4% Driven By Advanced Technology – New Burton Taylor Report
London and New York, April 3, 2025 – Global spending on financial market data and news grew modestly in 2024, with revenues jumping 6.4% to $44.3 billion. This signifies a solid growth rate, but represents only one-half of the industry’s increase of 12.4% just one year ago. Real-time trading and pricing, reference, and valuation data experienced moderated growth, while news products, in particular, experienced uncharacteristically accelerated growth, according to a new report published today by Burton Taylor Consulting, LLC.
Strong institutional trading markets supported spending by Fixed Income Trading and Equity Trading groups, 7.9% and 6.8% respectively, while spending by Retail Wealth Management slowed, showing only 3.9% growth in 2024.
Bloomberg and LSEG Data & Analytics together capture one-half of the market’s revenues from market data. Data providers offering customized or curated data have chipped away at the share of the major players but collectively account for nearly 20% of all revenue in this industry. As technology advances elevate financial institutions’ ability to extract value from detailed data, these smaller providers will have a greater opportunity to build their value.
