The Dictum Meum Pactum (DMP) Award has long been STA’s most distinguished accolade. In our industry, upholding the highest standards of integrity and commitment is absolutely essential. The list of past DMP recipients is a who’s who of financial services leaders who demonstrate unwavering dedication to the betterment of the financial sector and the success of their clients – true exemplars of the principle that “My Word Is My Bond”.
The DMP Award is more than a recognition of professional achievement – it is a celebration of character and ethical fortitude. Our honorees are those who not only excel in their careers, but also inspire trust and respect among their peers through steadfast adherence to solid values. These individuals serve as role models who illustrate the profound impact that ethical behavior can have on an industry and its community.
Earlier this month, we were proud to announce Chris Halverson, Director of Institutional Sales at CAPIS, as the recipient of the 2024 DMP Award. Chris’ extensive experience, admirable leadership and unwavering support for the STA community take a number of different forms, making him a natural choice.
For those unaware, Chris was the national STA Chair in 2020. Less than three months into his tenure, the COVID-19 lockdowns began, posing significant challenges and calling into question our plans for the rest of the year and beyond. From the very start, Chris showed exceptional leadership as we worked to deliver for our members and sponsors, and adapt our planned in-person conference to our first-ever virtual-only event. His willingness to adapt while maintaining our focus on steadfast advocacy and high-quality educational content gave us a strong foundation to pick up right where we left off once the restrictions were loosened. In addition, Chris’ 16 years of service to the Dallas STA board have earned him widespread recognition in his local community.
Beyond his professional achievements, Chris is dedicated to numerous charitable organizations such as the Catch A Lift Fund, St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital and the North Texas Food Bank. His hard work, dedication and positive attitude embody the values of the DMP Award.
The presentation of the DMP Award at STA’s 91st Annual Market Structure Conference in Orlando (taking place on September 18) will be a full-circle moment for him and for us. Five years ago, Chris was onstage to accept his chairmanship ahead of a term that none of us could have ever expected. Today, we are stronger for it, and Chris’ contributions to our organization are as substantial as ever.
We hope you’ll join us in Florida for what’s sure to be not just a great three days of industry content, but a reaffirmation of the values we have always sought to uphold.
