Barclays has appointed Ryan Voegeli as Head of Investment Banking for Canada, based in Toronto. With 20 years of Investment Banking experience, Voegeli brings to Barclays deep client relationships and industry knowledge that will further strengthen the existing Canada platform, and extensively complement the broader Americas and Global Corporate and Investment Banking businesses. He joins Barclays from CIBC Capital Markets where he was Head of Global Diversified Industries Investment Banking. In this role he led a highly successful team spanning Toronto, Montreal, Winnipeg, Vancouver, Chicago and San Francisco. Prior to joining CIBC in 2011, Voegeli was Head of Canadian Telecom, Media & Technology Investment Banking at Bank of America Merrill Lynch.
State Street Corporation has appointed Mark Shelton to executive vice president and general counsel. Shelton, who will report to Ron O’Hanley, chairman and chief executive officer of State Street Corporation, succeeds David Phelan who announced his retirement last year. Shelton joins State Street from Barclays International, where he was general counsel overseeing legal services related to client transactions and trading as well as cross-border regulatory compliance, data security, privacy, and ESG strategy. Prior to Barclays, he was the Americas general counsel and global head of investigations at UBS. He is a former partner at Gibson, Dunn & Crutcher, where he headed the Financial Institutions Group, and at Wilmer, Cutler & Pickering, where he advised broker-dealers and investment advisors on regulatory and enforcement matters. Shelton began his legal career in the Office of General Counsel at the Securities Exchange Commission after serving as law clerk on the US Court of Appeals for the Eighth Circuit.

Securities and Exchange Commission Commissioner Mark T. Uyeda was sworn in for his second term as a Commissioner at the Securities and Exchange Commission on Dec. 28, 2023. Commissioner Uyeda began his first term as an SEC Commissioner on June 30, 2022, after being nominated by President Joseph Biden and confirmed by the U.S. Senate for a term expiring in 2023. In June 2023, President Biden nominated Commissioner Uyeda for a term expiring in 2028, and the U.S. Senate confirmed Commissioner Uyeda on Dec. 20, 2023.
