Ofri Frider, Director, Sales & Relationship Management at the New York Stock Exchange (NYSE), won Rising Star at Markets Media Group’s 2023 Women in Finance (U.S.) Awards.
Please tell us about your current role and daily responsibilities.
As Director of Sales & Relationship Management at the New York Stock Exchange, I am responsible for promoting our brand and products across the NYSE’s five equities and two options exchanges. The NYSE is the world’s largest stock exchange with an incredible client base, and as a member of the Relationship Management team, I manage our external relationships with some of our largest trading clients across the industry, including banks, proprietary trading firms, market makers and retail brokers. In recent years, the NYSE has been focused on expanding our business internationally across Europe and APAC, which is another area that I manage. We’ve seen tremendous demand for U.S. equities and options trading from firms around the world, and we want to ensure we are supporting our global community by offering educational resources and strong collaboration.
What keeps you motivated?
I find that overcoming challenges and learning new things is really what keeps me motivated. I started my career at a firm called Superderivatives that was acquired by Intercontinental Exchange in 2014. I then spent several years at ICE on the product management team before moving over to the New York Stock Exchange side of the business. I did not make the obvious choice with each career move but picked opportunities that allowed me to learn new businesses, which kept me intrigued and determined. Working at ICE has given me the opportunity to continue learning about different businesses and has provided me with new perspectives and challenges. I look forward to continuing this collaboration with my colleagues across ICE and the NYSE’s offices around the world.
What’s your advice to the next generation of women in finance?
My three biggest pieces of advice are: always be open minded, don’t be afraid to try new things and stay curious. Ten years ago, I would never have imagined that I’d be in the seat I am today and winning a Women in Finance Award. I am grateful that I’ve had the opportunity to work in different roles across various types of businesses and found wonderful mentors at ICE and the NYSE along the way. Though it can often be intimidating, my advice to the next generation of women in finance is trust your mentors and be open to trying new things, even when an opportunity arises that doesn’t necessarily follow your career path.
