Agency-only brokerage and technology firm Instinet has named a new chief executive.
On Monday, the firm announced Jonathan Kellner, formerly head of the firms Americas group, has taken over the reins from Fumiki Kondo. Knodo has been designated to become head of Nomura Asset Managements overseas client division in Tokyo.
Prior to being named chief executive, Kellner served as head of Instinets Americas businesses. He joined the Nomura Group in 2003 and moved to Instinet in 2007 following its acquisition of the company. Kellner previously held senior trading and technology positions at Charles Schwab, Investment Technology Group and Morgan Stanley.
He also recently oversaw the development of Instinets cash trading desk, as previously reported by Traders.
Instinet has long been one of the worlds preeminent providers of electronic brokerage services, and with the role we now play within the Nomura Group, our relevance to the buy side has never been greater, Kellner said in a release. Im extremely excited to be taking on this position at this point in the firms history.
