TRADERS ON THE MOVE: UBS’s Forlenza Heads to Jefferies

Peter Forlenza, head of equities for the America’s at UBS Investment Bank, is heading to Jefferies. Plus, another departure at the bank and a new hire at ITG.

Peter Forlenza, head of equities for the America’s at UBS Investment Bank, is leaving after a year and a half to go to Jefferies. Forlenza, a 23 year professional, joined UBS in December of 2011 from MF Global where he was global head of equities before its collapse. At UBS, he was charged with regional management and development of the bank’s equities business as well as expanding the division’s growth strategy. He was also a member of the bank’s equities management committee.

Prior to MF Global, Forlenza was chief executive at global hedge fund Outpost Investment Group. He has also done stints at Banc of America as head of equities and was a managing director at Citi.

Also leaving UBS is Frank Bigelow, the firm’s director of electronic trading and senior sales trader. According to an industry executive, Bigelow, a 14 year veteran, is leaving the industry altogether, asource with knowledge of the matter told Traders Magazine. Before joining UBS almost 10 years ago, he was a market maker at JP Morgan Chase for two-and-a- half years and a sales trader at Wien Securities. 


Traders Magazine has also learned that Marc Angelos, a senior electronic sales trader, is joining Societe Generale as a sales trader after a brief stint in equity sales at Scotia Capital Markets. He landed at Scotia after departing UBS in October of last year. While at UBS, he was responsible for DMA and algorithmic trading flow. Prior to that, he worked on the electronic trading desk at Barclays covering hedge funds. He has also done stints at Lehman Brothers, Morgan Stanley and Instinet.


ITG hires sales trader Jeff Haise as a director to trade energy and industrials. Haise, a 20-year veteran, is responsible for providing high-touch execution, with a particular focus on companies covered by the firm’s energy team. Prior to this, he served as a senior sector trader at Nomura Securities, Deutsche Bank, Bank of America Merrill Lynch and Goldman Sachs. He reports to Michael Marrale.
