BGC Partners announced that Dean Berry will be joining BGC Partners as an executive managing director in its Global Electronic and Hybrid Execution team. In that capacity, Dean will join Phil Norton in leading all e-Commerce brands across BGC Partners and will report to Shaun Lynn, President, BGC Partners. Berry most recently served as the Chief Executive Officer for Global e-Commerce at ICAP. He will work alongside the firms global head of e-Commerce Phil Norton, who will dedicate his expertise to all pre- and post-trade, market data, analytics and fully electronic markets across the Firm.
RJ OBriensEuropean unit has seen the departure of six senior sales trader, includingits head of global markets, Paul Goodhew. Also leaving the firm are Peter Herrmann and Terry Foster, who joined RJO from UBS with Goodhew, Trevor Jailler, Ryan Dann and Ziad Berrejeb, according to the FCA Register.

Trading veteran Dragan Skoko was hired by Quantopian as its new head of trading. Skoko’s background includes working at FinTech, a quantitative investing and institutional trading, most recently as head of trading with Batterymarch Financial Management. Skoko is charged with leading Quantopian’s trading activities as the company implements and manages investment algorithms created by its community members.
ICAP announced that Gil Mandelzis, head of its EBS BrokerTec unit that trades FX and bonds electronically, has stepped down. According to a statement from the interdealer broker, Mandelzis has decided to step down from his position and will be leaving the company in due course.The departure of Mandelzis will come as a significant blow to ICAP, which is set to rebrand itself as NEX Group, focusing on electronic trading and post-trade technology.
Relatedly, ICAPs EBS BrokerTec announced the appointment of Jim Iorio, a former Barclays director, to head up its global sales and join its executive management committee.Iorio was global head of currency and commodities at Barclays for over 7 years, before leaving the firm in March this year.He was also a managing director at Lehman Brothers before departing in 2008, and has held a variety of senior roles across fixed income.
TMX Group recently announced the appointment a new Chief Information Officer. In a press release, Jay Rajarathinam was named to the senior post and will be charged with development and execution of the overall technology vision and strategy for TMX Group.Most recently Rajarathinam served as senior VP, global head of infrastructure, NYSE/Intercontinental Exchange.
Hong Kong Exchanges and Clearing Limited (HKEX) announced it has landed Jacky Mak as a managing director, head of OTC Clearing.Mak joins fromBank of America Merrill Lynch’s global markets division, and prior to that spent time at Societe Generale and HSBC.
As reported by the Wall Street Journal, Kenneth Griffins Citadel LLC hedge fund hired about 17 portfolio managers recently from fits rival Visium Asset Management.Visium said in June it would unwind after an insider-trading probe and other charges brought by federal prosecutors. It said it would sell the one fund that remained to AllianceBernstein LP, a traditional asset manager looking to expand in the hedge-fund business.
HFT firm Hudson River Tradinghired Ian Jack as president of its European operations. Jack will join in August and report to Adam Nunes, the firms New York-based head of business development, who confirmed the appointment.Jack was most recently chief executive of the UK capital markets division of GBST, a financial services software provider. Mega money management firm PIMCO has snagged Emmanuel ‘Manny’ Roman from Man Group, the world’s biggest listed hedge fund, as it tries to replace the loss of superstar co-founder Bill Gross. Leonie Ryan is set to join Citi from Deutsche Bankin its European cash equities business in late September or early October, according to people familiar with the situation. Her job title at Citi has not yet been confirmed.Ryan had only joined Deutsche Bank as its chief operating officer for global equities trading in November 2015.Before joining the German bank, she had been a consultant for four years, having previously held senior roles at Nomura, Lehman Brothers and Goldman Sachs.
