The 57 year-old Rogers is taking the role that was held by State Street’s Chief Executive Jay Hooley, also 57. Rogers will remain as head of the buyside firm’s global markets business worldwide and head of the Americas unit of its global services business. Rogers will be accountable for IT, global operations and State Street’s global exchange business.
According to the Wall Street Journal, “He joined the Boston trust bank in 2007 following its acquisition of Investors Financial, where he had served president for six years. Mr. Rogers has been a member of State Street’s management committee since 2010.”
A company spokeswoman denied that Rogers’s appointment is an element of a succession plan within the large buyside firm.
Further Promotions for State Street
The buyside giant also promoted Gunjan Kedia to its management committee, which the Journal calls “the company’s most senior strategy and policy making group.” She will lead State Street’s investment servicing capabilities in the Americas for mutual fund, insurance and institutional clients.
Wai Kwong Seck was promoted to lead State Street’s global services and global markets concerns in the Asia Pacific region.
