ING appointed Miles Millard as its new head of Global Capital Markets. The appointment gives Millard global responsibility for ING’s primary capital market activities. He has almost 30 years of experience in investment banking and global capital markets. Millard worked for 17 years at Deutsche Bank, where he held various senior management positions, including global head of Capital Markets and Treasury Solutions and was co-head of Corporate Finance for EMEA. Millard started his career at Bankers Trust, where he led a number of European derivative solutions teams..
Market veteran and friend of Markets Media Group, Rishi Nangalia, has departed Refinitiv. While at Refinitiv, which purchased REDI Technologies that was founded by Nangalia in July 2013, he served as its Global Head of BuySide Trading. According to sources he left the firm amicably. He also was the firm’s Global Head of ETI Trading for almost two years. He started his career at Goldman Sachs back in January 2001 as the firm’s head of product at GSET and then in January 2012 was named Head of the firm’s REDI Technologies group which took the firm’s EMS (REDI) into a broker neutral platform. After Knight, he spent more than 5 years at UBS Investment Bank as an Executive Director of Whole-Sale Market-Making, managing Client Services, monitoring and analyzing execution performance statistics, overseeing market structure initiatives, and supporting sales and business development.
The Financial Conduct Authority named Sheree Howard as Executive Director of Risk and Compliance Oversight. Howard is currently Interim Director of R&CO having joined the FCA as a Senior Adviser in December 2017. Prior to joining the FCA, she spent more than 25 years in financial services, both in the Insurance and Banking sectors.
Alison Rose, currently Deputy Chief Executive Officer at NatWest Holdings and CEO Commercial and Private Banking, will take up the CEO mantle at RBS on November 1. Outgoing CEO Ross McEwan will formally step down October 31. Rose was also appointed Executive Director and CEO on the Boards of NatWest Holdings Limited, The Royal Bank of Scotland plc, National Westminster Bank Plc and Ulster Bank Limited.
BNP Paribas appointed Theresa McCloskey as Chief Compliance Officer for BNP Securities Corp, its registered broker-dealer and futures commission merchant. McCloskey joined BNP Paribas in 1997, building out a Compliance program covering the trading activities of the broker dealer. Through the next several years, Terry also provided Compliance coverage to BNPP Asset Management Inc., BNPP Financial Services, and the Equities and Derivatives platform. In 2015, she became CIB Americas Compliance Advisory Head for CIB Americas Functions. She will also be a member of the Compliance Americas Executive Committee, reporting directly to Eric Young.
Apex Clearing announced changes at the C-Suite level – landing veterans, Josh Gray as Chief Technology Officer and Dustin Kirkland as Chief Product Officer. Gray, former member of the Cedexis leadership team where he helped to build the web-monitoring company’s innovative platform, will be responsible for driving the strategy, vision and architecture for all of Apex’s tech offerings.
Kirkland, who was most recently a product manager at Google where he worked to optimize Google Cloud and integrate the Velostrata acquisition into Google’s product portfolio, will be responsible for leading the product management team, conducting market and competitive analyses and overseeing product strategy.
Northern Trust has made three senior, London-based appointments across its institutional product and business development teams. These appointments support continued growth in the sophistication and scale of its global capabilities.
Howard Rapley has been appointed global product lead, securities services, responsible for the strategy and capabilities supporting client assets held by Northern Trust. These include safekeeping, settlement, income, corporate actions and tax reclamation services.
Rapley has more than 25 years of asset servicing experience, spending two decades with Citibank Europe, where he held senior product management and business leadership positions. He has also provided consultancy services, assisting asset servicing clients with product and provider alignment, change programmes and expert witness services for litigation.
Kate Webber has been appointed global product lead, fund services, responsible for developing Northern Trust’s capabilities supporting asset manager and fund company clients. Webber’s remit includes ensuring the global alignment of fund administration, fund accounting, transfer agency and fund distribution services.
Webber has more than 25 years of experience in asset servicing and has previously held senior product development and strategy positions with Calastone Limited and BNY Mellon. She is also the founder of Women in Asset Servicing, a network working to enable greater female representation in senior asset servicing positions across the financial services industry.
Additionally, Benjamin Bobroff has been appointed senior technology sales consultant for Europe, the Middle East and Africa He will engage with asset owners and asset managers to support their investment decision-making and oversight, including their use of data, analytics and Northern Trust’s technology solutions.
Bobroff has over a decade of asset servicing experience, focusing on client relations, technological solutions and business development. He previously held senior positions with BlackRock and J.P. Morgan. Prior to these roles he spent eight years in the British Army, where he served as a captain and bomb disposal officer.
