CalPERS has appointed Peter Cashion as managing investment director (MID) for Sustainable Investments. Cashion’s role will be to set the vision, strategy, and governance for CalPERS’ sustainability work and be responsible for leading all aspects of the fund’s efforts to develop and implement an economics-based ESG research and data framework to support environmental, social, and governance (ESG) integration into the investment decision-making process. Cashion has nearly three decades of investment experience and joins CalPERS from the World Bank’s International Finance Corporation (IFC), where he currently serves as global head of climate finance & chief investment officer in the Financial Institutions Group (FIG).
SimCorp has hired veteran fintech executive John Needham to spearhead SimCorp’s expansionary efforts in North America. Needham joins SimCorp from a senior leadership position at Murex. Prior to that, he held various executive management positions at FIS Global (formerly SunGard) for 17 years. Based in Toronto and reporting to CEO Christian Kromann, Needham offers extensive leadership capabilities. He will primarily focus on business development and setting strategic direction for the over 230 SimCorp North America employees, seeking to sustain the consistent double-digit growth the company has experienced over the past several years.
CME owned BrokerTec, a provider of electronic trading platforms and technology services in fixed income markets, has made three new hires. With nearly 20 years’ experience of fixed income trading Jamie O’Hara joins as a Director based in New York to support the dealer-to-client venue, BrokerTec Quote, in the US. Sammie Hodgson joins the team in London as a Director in the Repo business. She joins from LCH and previous roles include nine years at Tradeweb to focus on BrokerTec Quote in EMEA. Also based in London, Luke Negal joins as a Senior Director, Government Bonds, having held fixed income trading roles at ING Bank, RBS and Morgan Stanley. Negal will lead the business for European Government Bonds and also manage our US Treasury business in EMEA.
Alicia Boler Davis has been elected as a director of JPMorgan Chase, effective March 20, 2023. Davis serves as Chief Executive Officer of Alto Pharmacy. Prior to Alto, she was Senior Vice President of Global Customer Fulfillment and was a member of the Senior Team (S-Team) at Amazon. She also led Amazon’s worldwide network of customer service operations, robotics and technology, as well as the company’s sustainability, product assurance, real estate, construction, and procurement organizations.
BMLL, an independent provider of harmonized, historical Level 3 data and analytics, has appointed Jenny Chen as Head of Sales, Americas. Chen has over 20 years of experience working in the global financial industry, with a focus on execution services and global portfolio trading, based in the US. She has held a variety of senior roles at Société Générale as Managing Director, Head of Global Execution Services, Americas, responsible for all agency execution teams, sales, trading coverage, and algos; and Head of Global Portfolio Sales Trading and Electronic Services.
Ledgible, an institutional and enterprise crypto tax and accounting platform, has added Vivian Fang as Chief Advisor of Tax, Accounting, and Policy, and Gabriel Brin as Vice President of Tax and Accounting Product. Fang is also the Honeywell Professor of Accounting at the Carlson School of Management, University of Minnesota. She conducts research in corporate finance and financial accounting, and studies crypto and is an expert on crypto accounting. She has been teaching for over a decade and has her Master’s in Accounting and PhD in Business Administration from Tulane University. Brin brings over a decade of accounting experience where he directs the growth of the Ledgible Crypto Accounting Platform to serve tax and accounting professionals. He is the former Digital Asset Knowledge Leader from Crowe.
