Derrick Roman, former partner of PricewaterhouseCoopers (PwC), and Gus Sauter, current member of FINRA’s Investment Committee, have been appointed as public governors on FINRA’s Board of Governors. Roman also serves on the Boards of Directors of CommScope (NASDAQ) and WEX (NYSE) as Chair of their Audit Committees and a Member of WEX’s Finance Committee. In addition, Naureen Hassan, President of UBS Americas and CEO of UBS Holdings, has been appointed as an industry governor to the Floor Member Governor seat. Together, these individuals bring extensive audit, risk management, regulatory policy and investing experience to the Board.
Silver Creek Capital Management has hired David Matter as Co-Chief Investment Officer and Chair of the Investment Committee. Matter was most recently a Managing Director and Co-Chief Investment Officer of BlackRock Alternative Advisors (BAA), BlackRock’s Hedge Fund Solutions business, which grew to more than $30 billion of client assets during his tenure.
Wintermute and The Block have launched GMCI, a new venture aiming to provide financial services and index products to the crypto asset management community. The new company has named Maarten Botman as CEO. Prior to joining, Botman spent more than 15 years at Optiver. Evgeny Gaevoy, CEO of Wintermute, and Larry Cermak, CEO of The Block, will sit on GMCI’s board of directors.
BNP Paribas Exane has appointed five senior research analysts. Moses Sutton has been appointed to Head of Clean Energy Research, joining from Wellington Management where he covered global renewables. Sam McHugh has been appointed to Head of Telecom Equity Research; he has been with BNP Paribas Exane for eight years. Stefan Slowinski has been appointed to Global Head of Software Research, he has been with BNP Paribas Exane for over six years, Andrew Buscaglia has been appointed to Senior Analyst for US Industrial Technology, joining from Berenberg, where he was a Senior Analyst and US Industrials Sector Head. Kevin Grundy has been appointed to Senior Analyst for US Beverages and Household Products, joining from Jefferies.
AXA Investment Managers (AXA IM) has appointed Nicolas Deschamps as Global Head of Product and Client Strategy at AXA IM Core. He joined AXA IM in 2005 as Senior Sales Manager for Wholesale clients. Since then, he held various positions in the company. In addition Jane Wadia has been appointed Head of Sustainability, Core Products & Clients and will be responsible for leading AXA IM Core’s sustainable product strategy and external representation, effective immediately.
The non-profit FINRA Investor Education Foundation (FINRA Foundation), has named Jonathan Sokobin as Chair. In addition, the three new members of the FINRA Foundation Board of Directors include: Jason Fichtner, Chief Economist, Bipartisan Policy Center; Ellen Frawley, Partner, GMMB; and Paul Roye, Retired and Former SVP, Capital Research & Management Co.
