ON THE MOVE: Northern Trust AM Hires Paul Clark; Stephen Stewart to Barclays Canada

Paul Clark

Northern Trust Asset Management (NTAM) has appointed Paul Clark as Global Head of Stewardship. Clark joins NTAM as an investment management expert with over 35 years of industry experience. Based in London, Clark will lead NTAM’s investment stewardship strategy, engaging with investee companies to produce long-term value, improved financial performance and better investment outcomes. Clark will serve as Chair of the Northern Trust Proxy Voting Committee and will lead a growing global team of stewardship professionals. Clark reports to NTAM Head of Investment Platform Services Sheri Hawkins, CFA.

Stephen Stewart

Barclays has hired Stephen Stewart as Head of M&A Execution for Canada. Stewart is based in Toronto, and dually reports to Ryan Voegeli, Head of Investment Banking for Canada, and Dan Grabos, Head of Americas M&A. Stewart has over 15 years of investment banking experience, and joined Barclays from TD Securities, where most recently he was a Managing Director, M&A. He joined TD Securities in 2008 and throughout his career has played key roles in a vast number of landmark transactions.

Wilshire Indexes, a global benchmark platform, has appointed Courtney Scharff as Global Head of Commercial Strategy. Based in NYC, she will help deepen Wilshire Indexes’ commercial engagements and broaden strategic partnerships. Scharff joins Wilshire Indexes from Qontigo, where she was Global Head of Strategic Partnerships. Prior to that she served as Global Head of Index Data Management Solutions at Bloomberg. Before joining Bloomberg, Courtney was with FTSE Russell where she was Head of North American Client Services.

WSFS Bank, the primary subsidiary of WSFS Financial Corporation has expanded its Capital Markets team with the hires of Michael Burnap and Christian Gil as Senior Vice Presidents, Directors of Trade Finance, reporting to Neil Orechiwsky, Senior Vice President and Managing Director of Capital Markets. Prior to joining WSFS, Burnap managed Global Trade Services daily operations for US Bank supporting daily Commercial and Standby Letter of Credit and Documentary Collections processing. Prior to joining WSFS, Gil spent nearly two decades as a customer-facing leader in structured trade and commodity finance sales with multi-national banks such as MUFG Union Bank and BBVA where he covered different industries within the North and Latin American markets.
