ON THE MOVE: Ontario Teachers Makes Executive Appointments; MIAX Futures Hires Kelly Brown 

Kelly Brown

Kelly Brown has joined MIAX Futures as Senior Vice President Derivatives Products and Business Development. In this newly created position, Brown will be responsible for developing and maintaining strategic relationships with futures commission merchants, broker dealers and clearing members across the global futures industry. She joins MIAX after serving as Senior Principal, Head of Derivatives for Gemini Trust Company where he managed the build-out of its trading platform. Brown also served as Chief Commercial Officer at FairX where he led global top-line revenue generation of the exchange as well as product and exchange marketing. Prior to FairX, he was a Managing Director at CME Group, managing a global team responsible for bank, intermediary and retail strategic relationships. Prior to CME, he held senior leadership roles at Bank of America and Cargill Investor Services.

Stephen McLennan

Ontario Teachers’ Pension Plan Board has appointed Stephen McLennan and Gillian Brown into Chief Investment Officer roles focused on portfolio construction and alpha generation, respectfully. McLennan has been appointed Chief Investment Officer, Asset Allocation. He will oversee Ontario Teachers’ overall asset mix to drive total fund performance, management of portfolio risks, and approach to strong governance and investment practices. McLennan has been serving as Acting Head of Investments since September 2023. He joined Ontario Teachers’ in 2003 and has held positions of increasing responsibility, most recently leading the Total Fund Management department. Brown has been appointed Chief Investment Officer, Public & Private Investments. Since joining Ontario Teachers’ in 1995, Gillian has held progressively senior roles, most recently as head of the Capital Markets department since 2018. In addition, Jonathan Hausman has been appointed Chief Strategy Officer. He joined Ontario Teachers’ in 2004 and led Alternative Investments and Global Tactical Asset Allocation, before taking on the role leading the GIS department in 2017.

Emmy Bernard

STP Investment Services (STP) has hired Emmy Bernard as Chief Revenue Officer. Most recently, Bernard was Partner and Global Head of Marketing at ACA Group. Reporting to CEO Dan Houlihan, Bernard oversees sales, relationship management, marketing, and revenue operations. She draws from over 20 years of sales and marketing leadership experience in the financial services industry. As Partner and Global Head of Marketing at ACA Group, she oversaw lead generation and product marketing strategies for the firm. As Head of Client Development at Foreside Financial Group (merged with ACA Group in May 2022), Bernard led the firm’s commercial team across sales, marketing, and relationship management verticals.

R.J. O’Brien & Associates (RJO) has hired Patrick Christie as Senior Executive Officer and Head of Hrvyst, the firm’s agricultural technology (ag tech) business unit. Christie has more than 25 years of experience in starting, operating and investing in emerging technologies, including most recently in the ag tech and agribusiness sectors. Christie was founder and CEO of Conservis Corporation, a leading Software-as-a-Service (SaaS) farm data management solution which provides decision-making confidence and insights by collecting and organizing operating and financial data at farms. 

Broadridge Financial Solutions has appointed Chad Alderson as General Manager, Global Technology & Operations (GTO), Canada. Alderson succeeds Karin Yorfido, who was recently appointed President of Broadridge Canada to further expand Broadridge’s footprint in Canada and lead its Investor Communication Solutions (ICS) and the GTO businesses in the region. Alderson brings over two decades of industry experience to Broadridge. Most recently, he served as Vice President, End to End Customer Journeys and Strategy and Enablement at TD Bank Group. Prior to that, Alderson served as the Chief Executive Officer & Director at LTI Financial Services Technology, where he led the development of three new service lines, growing the organization to meet the needs of banking, financial services and insurance clients in Canada.

JPMorgan Chase has elected Mark Weinberger to its Board of Directors. He will also serve as a member of the Board’s Audit Committee. Weinberger was Global Chairman and Chief Executive Officer of Ernst & Young (EY) from 2013 to 2019. During his tenure, he led the global professional services organization through a purpose-driven transformation across more than 150 countries to deliver on EY’s mission of building a better working world. He currently sits on the boards of public companies Johnson & Johnson, MetLife and Saudi Aramco, as well as JUST Capital and the National Bureau of Economic Research. In addition, he serves on the Board of Trustees for Emory University and Case Western Reserve University.

Flexstone Partners, an affiliated investment manager of Natixis Investment Managers, has appointed Samira Boussem as Managing Director & Head of Sustainability. Boussem joins Flexstone from her role as Head of ESG at Natixis Investment Managers Solutions where she was leading all the ESG topics. She was also part of the Sustainable taskforce at Natixis Investment Managers helping affiliates define their Sustainable journey (in line with the group ESG ambition). She is also teaching Sustainable investing at Dauphine (Master Banque d’investissement et de marchés).
