ON THE MOVE: SEC Appoints Jamie Selway; Moelis Names Navid Mahmoodzadegan

Jamie Selway

The Securities and Exchange Commission has named Jamie Selway as Director of the Division of Trading and Markets, effective June 17, 2025. Selway was most recently a partner at Sophron Advisors, where he advised clients on capital markets issues. He was also a board member at Protego Holdings, board chair at AllofUs Financial and Skew, and served as an advisor to multiple financial technology companies. He previously was a managing director and head of electronic brokerage at Investment Technology Group, a global institutional broker. He co-founded institutional brokerage White Cap Trading, where he was a managing director and chairman. In addition, Brian T. Daly will become the new Director of the Division of Investment Management, effective July 8. Daly brings decades of experience serving in prominent roles at global law firms and investment management firms while advising fund managers and sponsors on regulatory compliance. For the past four years, he has been a partner in the investment management practice at Akin Gump Strauss Hauer & Feld LLP in New York, where he has guided investment advisers and other clients on their legal and compliance programs, policies, and procedures as well as counseling on fund and management company formation, operational and trading issues, contentious matters, and management company transactions.

Navid Mahmoodzadegan

Moelis & Company, a global independent investment bank, has announced that its Founder Ken Moelis, who has served as Chief Executive Officer since the Firm’s inception in 2007, will assume the role of Executive Chairman and will continue to focus on advising clients on their most critical strategic decisions. Navid Mahmoodzadegan, Co-Founder and Co-President, will succeed Moelis as Chief Executive Officer and will also join the Board of Directors. Jeff Raich, Co-Founder and Co-President, will become Executive Vice Chairman of Moelis and will continue to lead key business areas of the Firm.

Stacey Gilbert

Stacey Gilbert has joined the Options Institute at Cboe Global Markets as an instructor and will be leading a new monthly webinar session, teaching the basics of options trading. Gilbert spent six years at Glenmede Investment Management (GIM) as Chief Investment Officer of GIM and co-portfolio manager of Derivatives. She oversaw portfolio management, research and trading operations and helped shape investment strategy and implementation. Previously, she served as the Head of Derivatives Strategy at Susquehanna Financial Group, leading the team responsible for providing market commentary, actionable ideas and trading strategies.

Jane Hall has been appointed as Deputy Head of Equities & Director of Research (EMEA) at Fidelity International. She joins from
Wellington Management, where she was Director of Early Career Investor Development, EMEA. She also held roles at Majedie Asset Management and BlackRock.

Michael Capelli has joined BLOX Markets as a Managing Director, Head of Business Development. He brings over two decades of experience in electronic trading, quantitative analytics, and strategic leadership. Most recently, he served as CEO of Fennel Financials, a fintech platform offering value-aligned investing tools for retail investors. Previously, Capelli spent more than 15 years at Liquidnet, where he played a key role in building and leading the firm’s Execution and Quantitative Services business and driving multiple innovations in electronic trading. Earlier in his career, he co-founded Miletus Trading, one of the first algorithmic trading boutiques to integrate predictive analytics into single-stock and portfolio-based execution strategies.

The Bank of New York Mellon Corporation has announced that Chief Executive Officer Robin Vince was unanimously elected by the Board of Directors to the additional position of Chairman, and Joe Echevarria, the current Chairman, as lead independent director, effective September 1, 2025. Echevarria previously held the lead independent director role from 2016 to 2019.

Nick Rustad has joined as the new Group Head of LCH SwapClear and Listed Rates. He will report to Susi de Verdelon, CEO, LCH Limited, and join her leadership team. Rustad brings with him 25 years’ experience in financial services, and most recently served as Deputy Chief Operating Officer at Taula Capital Management. Prior to this he spent over 20 years at JPMorgan where he led the Global Futures and Derivatives Clearing business.

The Investment Association (IA) has appointed Namita Kain to a newly created role of Head of Private Markets. In addition, Hugo Gordon was promoted from Senior Policy Adviser to the new role of Head of Capital Markets. Kain joins from Octopus Investments, where she led a cross-functional team responsible for three UK equity funds and two private discretionary managed services. She also spent several years at Invesco as a Corporate Strategy Manager. Gordon has spent over ten years at the IA specialising in capital markets policy.
