Plato Partnership, the not-for-profit member organisation bringing creative solutions and efficiencies to today’s equity, has appointed Simon Steward as its Buy-Side Chair. After five years of dedicated service, Christoph Hock, Head of Multi-Asset Trading at Union Investments, will be stepping down as Plato Buy-side Chair. Steward is Director & European Head of Equity Trading at Capital Group. He has over 24 years of experience in capital markets and over three years as a member of Plato’s Board. Hock’s decision to step down as Buy-Side Chair is driven by his move to a new role within Union Investment.
ClearBank has hired Jonny Fry as its Head of Digital Assets Strategy. Fry joins ClearBank as a finance leader with over 25 years of experience. He brings an extensive background in blockchain technology as the CEO of news and advisory service TeamBlockchain. He is also is also Chairman at GemCap, and a non-executive director of TURN, a blockchain-powered reporting platform for the asset management industry.
Novatus Global, a RegTech and advisory solution provider, has appointed Nick Baker as the firm’s new Chairman. Baker is taking over the position from Marcus Sephton, who has been in the role since 2020. Baker brings 25 years of global strategic consulting and FinTech experience across financial services. Notably he co-founded Alpha Financial Markets Consulting, a specialist global investment management consultancy firm, where he spent 15-years as an executive director and then senior adviser.
Trumid, a financial technology company and fixed income electronic trading platform, has named Jason Quinn as Global Head of Sales. Quinn, who is a founding member of Trumid’s leadership team, remains Trumid’s Chief Product Officer. Quinn joined Trumid in 2015 bringing more than 15 years of credit market experience, both from the buy-and sell-side.
The Board of Directors of the Council of Institutional Investors (CII) has announced that Executive Director Amy Borrus has decided to retire next spring, after more than 17 years at CII, including more than three years as executive director. A search committee of the board has begun the process of selecting an executive recruitment firm to help identify candidates for CII’s next executive director.
Validus Risk Management, an independent financial risk advisory and technology firm, has appointed Andrew Spence as a senior advisor in Toronto focusing on pension plans and asset managers. He brings 30 years of experience as an economist, investment strategist and risk manager in both the public and private sectors. He previously led rates and FX research at TD Securities and was a senior investment executive at both the Ontario Teachers’ Pension Plan and OMERS.
