FLASH FRIDAY is a weekly content series looking at the past, present and future of capital markets trading and technology. FLASH FRIDAY is sponsored by Instinet, a Nomura company.
In what is surely the capital markets industry’s first post-summer event, the 2022 Texas Traders Convention will be held Sept. 8-10 in Dallas.
It looks like a networking-heavy few days. There will be three hours of equities, options and crypto panels on Thursday afternoon, but then it’s on to the fun stuff: cocktails, dinner and a poker tournament that evening, followed by shotgun shooting, golf, and a pool party on Friday.
Then the big kahuna: a bus to Austin leaves at 6 pm Friday, grab a hotel room and be ready for 9 am Saturday tailgating at the Alabama-Texas football game.
Traders Magazine profiled the Dallas Security Traders Association at this time last year, just ahead of the 2021 Texas Traders Convention. In that article, DSTA President Steve Capurso said the organization was increasing its efforts to coordinate with retail brokerage firms such as Charles Schwab, Fidelity, and TD Ameritrade.
But Flash Friday is about flashing back — way back. So let’s look back on the 2000 DSTA event, as seen through a Traders Magazine photo gallery.
