Yie-Hsin Hung has been a strong advocate for women in finance throughout her distinguished career in financial services. She started her career in 1986 at Dean Witter Reynolds where she stayed for 11 years, then continued at Morgan Stanley (11 years), New York Life Investment Management (12 years), and (soon to come) State Street Global Advisors.
Hung has significant gravitas in the industry, as evidenced by her role as Chair of the Investment Company Institute and inclusion in Barron’s 100 Most Influential Women in U.S. Finance.
She has been a valued supporter of Markets Media Group’s awards programs, on both sides of the dais. Hung won Person of the Year at the 2019 Markets Choice Awards, and she opened the 2021 U.S. Women in Finance Awards with introductory remarks and an award presentation.
So we at Markets Media were thrilled to see last week’s news that Hung was named President and CEO at State Street Global Advisors, which had $4.14 trillion in assets under management as of year-end 2021. SSGA is ranked as the world’s fifth-largest institutional asset manager, between Fidelity and Morgan Stanley Investment Management.
“I am so excited and honored to join State Street and lead its world class global #investment effort in State Street Global Advisors,” Hung wrote on LinkedIn last week. “Thank you Ronald O’Hanley for the opportunity and Cyrus Taraporevala for your leadership. I truly cannot wait!”
Hung, who starts at SSGA in December, added on LinkedIn: “I am also incredibly grateful to my colleagues at New York Life Investments and New York Life Insurance Company for one of the best experiences and chapters in my life.”
In a sense, Hung embodies the Markets Media Women in Finance program, which is all about celebrating and recognizing women who excel in their own careers, while helping others do the same and making a positive impact toward a greater cause.
Markets Media’s 2022 Women in Finance Awards event will be held on Thursday, November 17, at the Hard Rock Hotel in New York City.
