TECH TUESDAY: Takeaways from the Nasdaq Financial Technology Client Conference

TECH TUESDAY is a weekly content series covering all aspects of capital markets technology. TECH TUESDAY is produced in collaboration with Nasdaq.

Nasdaq held its inaugural Financial Technology Client Conference in New York on April 10.

The event covered high-level technology topics such as innovation, cloud transformation, and digitalization. The day also marked the official unveiling of Nasdaq AxiomSL, offering Risk & Financial Regulatory Reporting Solutions, and Nasdaq Calypso, which provides front-to-back solutions for capital markets and treasury. AxiomSL and Calypso were the primary businesses of Adenza, which Nasdaq acquired in November 2023.

“It was a privilege to host over 200 risk, operations, and finance professionals, all of whom are members of our growing community of clients,” Tal Cohen, President, Market Platforms at Nasdaq shared on LinkedIn. “The event provided us with an opportunity to articulate our long-term vision for our Financial Technology business, reaffirm our commitment to Nasdaq AxiomSL and Nasdaq Calypso and engage clients on how we can help navigate an increasingly complex landscape.”

The conference kicked off with a fireside chat between Cohen and Nasdaq Chief Strategy Officer Jeremy Skule, where they presented the new Nasdaq Financial Technology division, in particular how it will contribute to Nasdaq’s mission to become the trusted fabric of the financial system and how it will serve former Adenza clients who are now part of the enlarged Nasdaq community – One Nasdaq.

“Following this overview, clients and Nasdaq subject matter experts discussed their strategic transformation projects, targeting consolidation around Calypso, AxiomSL, and other Nasdaq FinTech solutions, and powered by technology innovation,” Sophie Marnhier-Foy, Vice President, Nasdaq Financial Technology, told Traders Magazine. “Along those same lines another panel spotlighted cloud transformation, where clients explained the benefits of cloud managed services enabling business agility and faster go-to market.”

Marnhier-Foy said the afternoon content sessions drilled down into products where subject matter experts and the Nasdaq customer delivery team discussed new functionalities, services, portals, and upgrade processes with the audience.

The Nasdaq Financial Technology Client Conference builds on the legacy of Adenza’s long-running annual client conference around the world, Marnhier-Foy noted.

This year saw record attendance at peer groups, which offer a unique forum for firms to share and discuss their ongoing and future business plans. It provided Nasdaq with valuable roadmap input to further expand capital markets and regulatory solutions coverage, and align with market needs, ensuring they solve clients’ most complex challenges.

“Clients welcome the conference as a forum to network with peers and exchange ideas on the business evolution and best practices. The 2024 inaugural conference was an opportunity for us to introduce the Nasdaq Financial Technology leadership team,” she said. “We wanted to demonstrate continuity in terms of product investment; we are moving very fast with a roadmap that constantly delivers new functionalities that can be deployed seamlessly,” Marnhier-Foy added. “In addition, we intend to accelerate our cloud, AI and digitalization initiatives with the Nasdaq innovation team’s new input and support.”
