What were the key theme(s) for your business in 2024?

The key strategic themes for Liquidnet in 2024 revolved around innovation, the resurgence of block activity, fostering member-led product development, and investing in our people. We prioritized advancing trading solutions such as SmartDark and SuperBlock Matching while expanding our multi-asset capabilities to meet the evolving requirements of institutional investors. Our investment in talent allowed us to strengthen our Enhanced Coverage Model, enabling us to deliver an enhanced high-touch service to complement our low-touch product offerings.

What was the highlight of 2024?

The successful launch of SuperBlock Matching and SmartDark stood out as defining moments for Liquidnet in 2024. SuperBlock Matching has redefined the perception of trust and efficiency in trading large block size in the industry, while SmartDark delivers unparalleled precision in accessing high-performing trading venues. Additionally, Liquidnet achieved remarkable growth in U.S. agency ATS block market share —a testament to the continued confidence and trust of our clients.

What are your expectations for 2025?

In 2025, Liquidnet is poised to build upon the success of its SuperBlock Matching solution, further advancing its algorithmic suite with enhanced customization features. Under the leadership of Eric Blake, we plan to expand our footprint in Latin America, driving growth in this key market. Equally, we will prioritize the evolution of our multi-asset capabilities, including the introduction of equity-listed options as a new asset class for Liquidnet.

What trends are getting underway that people may not know about but will be important?

· The rise of customizable algo solutions to meet specific trading strategies and risk profiles.

· Increased focus on multi-asset trading models as asset managers seek integrated solutions.

· Latin America’s trading evolution, where block liquidity and price discovery are particularly challenging but hold untapped opportunities.

· Globalized equity markets, where cross-border investment flows and macroeconomic shifts are increasing market interdependencies, requiring robust, agile liquidity solutions.

What industry trends have been prominent but are now fading (or will soon fade)?

The reliance on one-size-fits-all trading algorithms is fading as institutional investors increasingly demand tailored solutions for complex strategies. In addition, traditional approaches to liquidity sourcing are being replaced by more global and technology-driven solutions.
